Step 0: First time setup

If you don't have one you have to install an ASPI layer.

Step 1: Rip the DVD

Insert your DVD disc in your DVD-ROM drive and run SmartRipper. A short authentication process will take place which will make sure all files are readable. If there's any problem with unreadable files run a software player, start playing the movie, and close the player, the rerun SmartRipper. Once done, the main window looks like this:

Make sure you are in "Movie Mode" (on the left) and look at the Angles mini-window. A length is shown next to each one of the angles displayed there, choose the angle which matches your movie length, this way you have an indication of what angle is really your movie. Once ready, choose a destination directory at the bottom, and click "Start". this process should take about 15-40 minutes, depends on the speed of your DVD-ROM drive, the speed of your hard drive, and the number of VOB files. If you want to, you can configure the settings before you rip but the default ones are good for most cases.
